Noted for understated story-telling with an unusual twist, Tom De Cerchio has won numerous accolades and awards, including the AICP Show (2003 & 2005), the New York Festival(2004) and the Beldings(2006). His Bud Light "Limo" (DDB Chicago) has been inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame and is on USA Todays "Top 20 Spots of All Time".
De Cerchio founded Incubator Films in January 2002, through which he recently directed a string of notable spot projects: Sony Playstation "Golf", (TBWA/Chiat/Day); Burger King "Bad ass Burger" (Crispin Porter + Bogusky); Kia "Make Out" (Publicis/ Toronto); Bud Light "Dye Marker" (Downtown Partners); and Rapala "Get Away" (Carmichael Lynch/MN). For Renault (Saatchi & Saatchi/Milan), De Cerchio helmed a four-spot campaign, including a 2:30 ad screening in cinemas throughout Europe. That project, shot by DP Dante Spinotti in English with foreign subtitles, has the look and feel of a genuine mob saga set in Queens and the Lower East Side.
From Playstations golf cart blasting robots, Kias steamy make out session, and Rapalas determined runaway fish, De Cerchio continues to demonstrate his impressive talent, skill, and range as a comedy director. He began his career as an agency creative, honing his skills at TBWA/Chiat/Day, New York, before opening his own agency, Buckley/De Cerchio - where he penned the now famous line by Snapple, "Made from the best stufff on earth." De Cerchio made the move to directing in 1993, lensing via production companies H.S.I. and MJZ.
A prolific writer, De Cerchio has worked with MGM, Universal Studios, Columbia Pictures and Walt Disney Pictures. He has also collaborated with Hollywood heavyweights such as John McTiernan and Renny Harlin. De Cerchio has also found time to helm features and shorts films. His credits include Disney's CELTIC PRIDE starring Damon Wayans and Dan Aykroyd, and the short NUNZIOS SECOND COUSIN, a black comedy about hate crimes starring Vincent DOnofrio. NUNZIO earned a permanent place in the MOMAs short film collection as well as in the UCLA Film and Television Archive Permanent Study Collection. It was also screened at the Sundance and Telluride Film Festivals. De Cerchio is based in Los Angeles. In addition to directing through Incubator, he is represented by Circle Productions/Canada.
